Statutes Of Liberty

Story Of My Life
19 December 2009
Bible Camp '09 ended a week ago.
Christmas week, tonnes of shopping to do, busy. Go figure.
So I apologize for the late update on Bible Camp.

It'll take forever if I were to update on it day by day.
So I'll just give a short update on the events (hope I don't miss out any)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So 13th December was the first day.
Tumpang Kenneth's car to Christian Convention Center (CCC)
Was 2 hours late for camp cause we have to pick up Kah Chun. :O
So we missed out the first game of the camp, Dodge ball.

Checked-in and I was assigned to the Soldiers Of Salvation group.
And for my first time here, I was to stay at Dorm 4 *horror music*

So let's move on to the events shall we?
*Looks at the camp schedule*

["Messages"]

What's the point of Bible Camp if you're not there to study God's word?
So 2 awesome speakers were invited to come and minister God's word to us.
They are Brother Adrian Low and Brother Chew Eng Huat.

Attending "class" every morning,
flipping through the Bible here and there, reading verses, writing notes.
I did pick up many new things from the messages. :)

[ Crabooburst ]

CAT (Computer Aided Drawing), Human props, Stop Action Figures, Clay shaping.
A group sends out a member to pick a card with a certain theme and task.

I was the first to go out. *picks a card*
CAT! YAY! What software am I gonna use to draw? Photoshop?
And Bing Hwang says....Use Paint. LOL

So my task was to draw the Solar System/ Galaxy. *Draws draws draws*
One of the Soldiers gave the answer Solar System.
Yay! 10 points!

The game goes on with tonnes and tonnes of laughter.
The clay shaping was the funniest among all.
Among the things that were made.
  1. Grasshopper
  2. Nestling Doll
  3. Prawn Crackers! ROFLOL
  4. The race between the Tortoise and the Hare. (Good job Melanie!)
  5. Godzilla smashing through the city. (Good job again Melanie!)
  6. Body builder

Irene attempting Prawn Crackers

Mel's awesome work

GODZILLA! RAWR!

May Lyn's Grasshopper

Not forgetting Human props too. :D

Assault the castle!!

[ Underground Church The Game ]

The year is not 20(wtv the value),
The world is now ruled by Chancellor Bing
who persecutes Christians *Horror music*
And to help him, he has special agents
known as the secret police to capture Christians
who try to preach the Gospel and Civilians who believed in the Gospel.

The game has 4 roles to play.
  1. Bearers of the Word
  2. Parchment Carriers
  3. Civilians
  4. Secret Police
Basically, Bearers of the Word, Parchment Carriers and the Civilians
have to work together and copy a list of items and a passage from the Bible.
When they complete the list needed, they may make their way to the safe house
or they can choose to help "spread the Gospel" to the others who have not
completed their list.

The Secret Police's job is to capture anyone he/she sees trying to
copy down the list (in groups of 3). People who were captured
will be sent to the infamous jail to be tortured.

So the game starts, everyone was given an envelope
with their identity card in it with 2 pieces of paper and a pen.
Everyone spread out around the compound of CCC and
let the game begins.

As time passes, more and more people completed their list
and of course more and more people got themselves deceived
by the secret police and ended up in jail. (Like me LOL)

My identity card and list

Getting tortured by Jail Master Alan Low

Eating one of the driest food I've ever eaten.

Jon with the cone of shame XD

Suleen (Secret Police) joins the party.
So now you have an idea how we got deceived.

I want to play this again! :D

[ Prison Break ]

FREEDOM PASSES UP FOR GRABS!
Nothing is free so to earn one, you have to work for it.

The game simple. You pass the "obstacle", you get your pass.
Team with most FREEDOM PASS wins.
Among the obstacles are:
  1. Bible Quiz
  2. Bernoulli
  3. Human Chess
  4. The Maze (Can't really recall the actual name)
I don't think I need to elaborate much on Bible Quiz.
FIRST WHO RINGS THE BELL AND ANSWERS CORRECTLY WINS! TATA!

Bernoulli's Principle states that
as the speed of the moving fluid increases,
the pressure decreases. w00ts! Physics!
Hair dryer, Ping pong ball, obstacles...Got the idea yet?

I manage to pass all the obstacles without dropping the ball :D
Why I so pro? Cause I made the obstacles one mah. *Perasan* XDD

After all the cutting, shaping, redoing, getting cut again and again in the process
Glad to see all my hardwork pays off and it is God's grace that everything worked out
as there were no test runs done to see if it is possible to pass the obstacles. LOL

Human Chess.
The objective is to trap you enemies so that they
have no more place to move and that results to their "death"

From the pic as you can see is the chess pieces and the chess board.
One is allowed to only move one step at a time either vertically or horizontally.
Power cards allow the chess piece to move diagonally (good for one time only)
Every place that was stepped on before is marked and cannot be stepped over again.

The Maze

No pics for this one as it is played in the field, pitch black.
"Prisoners" have to crawl their way through a simple maze
to collect their freedom pass in the middle
and then make their way out to the designated exit.

[ Blockbuster Night ]

After lunch, the Big Bros went up to draw
the title of the sketch their team have to do.

Soldiers Of Salvation (my group)-
Jonas and the Big Fish with the theme - Musical.

Officers Of Offering -
Daniel In The Lion Den with the theme - Sci-Fi

Lieutenants Of Liberty -
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace with the theme - Oriental

So from 1.30 pm onwards,
we had discussions, divide ourselves into groups and started working.

Our group have a bunch of talented musicians and they
manage to come out with lyrics portraying the story of Jonas.
We used songs such as I have a dream, Mamma Mia
and 2 theme songs from The Phantom Of The Opera.

I was under the props team
Our props were pretty simple.
The ship, the sea, and the fish.

Joyce's initial idea was to make a paper mache of the fish.
In the process, we burnt a fuse (used 3 hair dyers in one extension)
and we see rain clouds coming. *horror music*

PLAN B!
Err...what's plan B?

So I went walking around the field
trying to scavenge for anything I could use to make a fish out of it.
*Sees a dead part of a coconut/palm tree lying on the ground*
Light bulb lights up, picked up the branch, ties it to some wires...
And tata! A frame of a fish! :D

We beautify it with some mahjong papers XD
Yeah, cheap looking but I love it :D

Joyce, Me and PLAN B. XD

And at 8.30 pm, LET THE SHOW BEGIN!
Every group pulled off a great show. :D
Results - Soldiers Of Salvation came in 1st place.
*Jaws on the floor* W00ts! We did it peeps!

Well, before I end..
I just wanted to thank everyone who made
my first Bible Camp fruitful and enjoyable for me.
God, the committee, the group members, the other campers.

I certainly look forward to next year's Bible Camp.
Well, hopefully I'll be able to make it :)

Pole

Story Of My Life
16 December 2009

Looking at that picture...
I bet the few "first thing" that comes to your mind is
  1. Independence Day
  2. Patriotism
  3. Whatever that relates to 1 and 2 LOL
Well, its not what you think it is.
Its just symbolism. Focus on the flag pole.
Common sense tells you a flag pole is tall and thin.

And 4 days ago (16th of Dec)...
A "flag pole" that I known turns 25! *throws confetti*

Oh and if you're still wondering who this "flag pole" is...
It is not other than the tall, skinny, full of bones.. *drum rolls*

JUSTIN TAN!

Lets see...where should I start.
Alot of things leh...guess I'll only write a few (feeling lazy :P)

#1 - His signature smile.

Below are a few photos of him.
Note his smile :D

#2 - Mr. PC Repairman

He's the person everyone calls when their PC got fried or went cuckoo.
He knows his stuff well. So anyone needs a PC repairman?
Can always call him up....but not 24/7 service though. XD

"Motherboard! Motherboard!"
HAHAHAHA

#3 - His evil twin

Achmed the dead terrorist XD

Resemble each other much eh? LOL!
Credits to Maylin for noticing and spreading the discovery XD

Just before I end this short birthday post,
I just wanna say thanks for everything Justin.
The car rides, the PC repair guides,
the cheap cheap prices in Ghost Trappers trading
and of course all the fun we all share.
You're a great big brother in Christ.

Happy Birthday Justin Tan!
May the good God bless you :)

Little Miss Giggles

Story Of My Life
15 December 2009

Sorry this post came a lil' late.
Was at Bible Camp for the entire week.
Remember I said I'll post up a chain of birthday post?
Here is the first one. :)

Derived from an Italian
word,'Natale'
the name of this person means 'birthday'
or more specifically 'Christ's birthday'.

Well, I've given you a very obvious clue who this person is.
"Natale" -----> and you get Natalie.
4 days ago....She turns 16!
*throws confetti*

Seen her for the first time like about a decade ago...
Became friends this year, 10 months and 5 days ago (counting backwards from 19th Dec).
I'll leave the maths to you.

Hmm...Natalie *giggles* ah.... *giggles* I *giggles* wonder *giggles*
what *giggles* she's *giggles* known *giggles* for *giggles* among *giggles*
the *giggles* youth *giggles* in *giggles* church *giggles*.

LOL that's right!
She is a "Little Miss Giggles" XD

She's like some kinda reactant that sets off a chain of laughter.
Equation of reaction :-

Nat + A group of people --(*Nat giggles*)--> Everyone laughs
A must have for any event :D

XD

Oh! She has an awesome voice too!
Everyone told me she can sing really well (EVERYONE!)

Didn't really had a chance to hear her singing until...
I sat next to her during one of the Singspiration in Bible Camp.
No doubt...A.W.E.S.O.M.E. :)

Eh, I can't seem to find the vid of her singing with her friends :(
Ah, maybe next time you'll get to hear her voice.

Random fact.

Shout "FROG!!" when Nat is having the ball in a game of Captain Ball...
and you will cause her to lose possession of the ball (well, not all the time though) :P

The church YP threw her a SURPRISE! party about 5 hours ago.
Here are some piccas...more at Facebook (will upload them up soon).

While we were waiting.... :P

SURPRISE!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Sweet 16th Birthday Natalie! =D
God bless you :)

Secondary School life is over. *Sigh*
Things I'm gonna miss:

#1 - 5 Cekal

A model + a few lawyers + a few politicians
+ a rapper + a cancer patient + a bird + a Gummy Bear
+ a few sleepyheads + some normal students....
Sum them all up and you get 5 Cekal :D

Probably the best class I had in all the 5 years I'm here.

Us - 5 Cekal 2009

Ohrx lalax -.-"

This is for the ones who didn't do their homework XP

The CoD4-ers :D

Small VS BIG

BIG Wins

#2 - Editorial Board and Editorial Board's room

No pets allowed at the set. Shoo~!

Having a break

:P

A sketch of us by Hsien Ming :D

Oh noes! Air cond died. RIP.

Our magazine :)

It's been a great experience guys :)

#3 - Nav's Nike Bottle

Without this bottle...
PFS' Songkla Festival would never be fun.
What? PFS' Songkla Festival?

Oh, it's our class tradition to drench the birthday boy with water
as soon as the 2.40 pm bell rings. Man, I'm gonna miss that as well.

#4 - Delonix Regia

Delonix Regia or also known as the Flame of the Forest.
In Free School, we have one of it, growing tall near the school pond.
It was love at first sight when I saw it through my editor's Nikon D40 view finder.

Since then, I've been taking pictures of it.
Oh how much I love it :)

The sad thing was....
It was chopped down recently. :O
Why!? Why you people have to destroy such beauty!? :(

R.I.P. =/

Sorry readers, I have so much more to write but
I gotta leave soon. And it's Christmas season...busy busy :O

Be back soon.
With a chain of birthday posts. :D
